The 1912 Simplex 50 HP Toy-Tonneau being offered through Gooding & Company at its 2023 Pebble Beach Auctions.

The 50 hp, 597 cc T-head engine allowed the car to reach a top speed of 80 mph.

With its combination of speed, reliability, and comfort, the Simplex 50 HP became a favorite of America’s motoring elite at the beginning of the 20th century.

This example features a 124-inch, 50 HP chassis with a Runabout, two-seat body and folding canvas top.

According to Gooding & Company, “the classic short-stroke 50 HP is arguably the most famous and sought-after” models from Simplex, and “approximately 20 examples have survived in varying states of originality.”
